First Homeowner Moves Into A Heritage Ford Habitat Home

Jaime Vergara, president of Heritage Ford Lincoln Mercury,
presents the house keys to Lisa Williams, new Habitat homeowner.

While Jaime Vergara and his team at Heritage Ford present keys every day to their customers, recently Vergara experienced the opportunity to give Lisa Williams a set of keys, but not to a car – he gave her the keys to her new home!!

The home on Edwards Lane is the 36th home built with the community's support in the ten year history of Putnam County Habitat for Humanity (PCHFH) Habitat for Humanity provides the opportunity for affordable home ownership. Funding to build the homes comes from the no-interest mortgages that current Habitat homeowners pay monthly and from support of the community. House Sponsors in the past ten years have included area churches, the hospital, a local manufacturer, a construction company, and a civic group. This is the first sponsorship from the auto or retail industry.

"The support Heritage Ford provided to help build this house has been a blessing to this family and our community" says Pam Ealey, Resource Development Manager of PCHFH. "Jaime and his team at Heritage Ford understand the importance of giving back to their community. Their support has now changed the lives of this family and that is an impact that will last a life time and affect the entire community."

Ealey continued, "We hope other businesses in our county will consider how they can get involved in our program from TEAM Building Days to sponsoring a house, there is something for everyone to consider."

Putnam County Habitat for Humanity is a Christian housing ministry, dedicated to ridding Putnam County of poverty housing and providing families in need with the opportunity for home ownership. PCHFH sells the homes to the Partner Families at cost with no-interest mortgages. For more information on supporting PCHFH call Ealey at 528-1711.
