Applications Now Being Accepted
(1/1/07) Home ownership
applications are now being accepted! Applications can be
printed from the web page or picked up at the offices of
PCHFH (728 E 15th Street). Applicants must have lived or
worked in Putnam County for the past twelve months.
Applications are being accepted until March 31, 2007 for
homes to be built in 2008-2009. Application Help sessions
will be held at the PCHFH offices on February 8 (4:30-6:30)
and February 17 (9-11). Additional information is available
on the Become a Homeowner
page.

Hurricane Relief Photo
Exhibit
(2/19/07) Putnam County Habitat for Humanity will host an
exhibit that shows dramatic photos of the heartache and
devastation caused by hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the
hope and renewal offered by volunteers in the Gulf Coast.
“Operation Home Delivery: Habitat for Humanity Responds to
the Gulf Coast Hurricanes” will be on display for viewing
during the upcoming Home Show March 2nd through the 4th.

Crew Leader Orientation
Meeting
(2/19/07) Volunteers with specific construction skills that
are interested in giving a few days this spring and summer
as Habitat Crew Leaders are invited to a Crew Leader
orientation meeting, Monday, March 12 at 6:30pm at
the offices of Putnam County Habitat for Humanity. Generally
crew leaders pick one or two specific construction tasks
that they would like to lead a group of volunteers on – such
as installing vinyl siding, roofing, and cabinet
installation. For more information on getting involved as a
volunteer with Putnam County Habitat for Humanity, call the
Habitat office at 528-1711. |

Cooking
on the Square, Part Two
(2/3/07) What do you have when you combine hundreds of
one-of-a-kind handcrafted bowls, warm rice, and a vast array
of delicious gumbos? Of course, it's Habitat's much loved
event – Cooking on the Square! But what do you have
when it's not October, when it's a Saturday night and the
setting is several miles from Cookeville's Courthouse Square
– how about….. Cooking on the Square, Part Two!

Appreciation Dinner
(1/6/07) Friends of Putnam County HFH are invited to our
annual Appreciation Dinner! This fun evening is set for
Tuesday, February 27th at 6pm at First United Methodist
Church. It’s an opportunity for us to thank our volunteers
and donors for their continuing support. Guests are invited
to bring a covered dish. The meat and drinks will be
provided. |

Youth Art Contest
(9/30/06) American Classic
Mantel is presenting a Youth Art Contest – A Home for the
Holidays – for the youth of Putnam County. Winners will
receive Savings Bonds and their artwork will be reproduced
into Christmas Postcards which PCHFH will sell to support
the Women Build home for 2007. Download the

New Strategic Plan
(6/30/06) This summer the PCHFH Board of Directors adopted a
strategic plan which has the ultimate goal of building to the
capacity of seven or eight homes every year forward beginning in

Bank of Putnam County Matching Donations
(8/20/05) Elizabeth Ray Fournet of Bank of Putnam County
recently announced a matching gift program to support the
current Habitat for Humanity project in Monterey. Over the next
few weeks, the bank will match the donations made that are
designated to the Monterey home.

Upperman High
School Students
for Habitat for Humanity
(11/15/04)
Recently Upperman High School
Building Trades teacher Gary Strong brought his
class out for a work day on a Habitat for
Humanity site. The class worked all day on
framing the Habitat home which is being sponsored
by Heritage Ford. Strong is a
regular supporter of Habitat and brings his
classes out regularly to help the non-profit
organization, while helping his kids gain the
experience of construction and helping a family
in need. |

Tenth Anniversary
T-Shirts Available

The front of the white t-shirt has the PCHFH logo
in blue on the left upper side. The multi-color
back of the shirt pays tribute to the ten year
anniversary in '05. The shirts are available at
our offices. All volunteers and supporters of
Putnam County Habitat are encouraged to stop in

Women Builders to
"do it all" for
a Habitat for Humanity homeowner
(6/1/04) Beginning
this fall, Putnam County Habitat for Humanity
will be inaugurating its first-ever Women Build
event. Women from Putnam County will help create
a solution to the problem of poverty housing by

(10/8/06) The 43rd Putnam
County family received the keys to their new home as the
dedication was held for the Smith Family's new home on
Paran Road. This was an Apostles Build home with several
churches coming forward to help provide a home for the
Smiths. |

(6/21/06) During this week a volunteer team from St. Dominic Savio Catholic
Church in St. Louis came to town to help PCHFH. This was the 12th year
that this church has sponsored a trip for their youth
group to work with a Habitat for Humanity affiliate. In
addition to helping on projects, the group also were
able to join us at our Burks Lane Celebration.

(6/10/06) The 42nd PCHFH home
was dedicated in Algood on Saturday, June 10th. Jim
Stapleton, General Manager of JWC Broadcasting, one of the
home’s sponsors, presents the keys to new homeowner,
Veronica Panker. This home is now home to Ms. Panker, her
two sons, and her daughter. |

(4/8/06) "Not only did our service
the past two weekends help Habitat, but it also helped
us to work together as a team, especially in a
non-football setting as it was on a construction site. I
think that everyone involved on the build was blessed
,and i want to thank you for the opportunity to help"
said Peter Taylor, TTU freshman from Lebanon, regarding
his experience with the TTU football team helping to
build the Panker home. |

(4/1/06) College students get
first build of the year off to a great start. The first
Saturday of April, Sigma Chi Fraternity and the TTU Football
Team joined forces to make a difference in the life of
Veronica Panker. Both groups worked together on the first
framing day of the home sponsored by JWC Broadcasting and
Cooking on the Square. The football team provided labor for
the first two Saturdays and helped get the home completed on
time for the June dedication. |

Square - Oct. 28, 2005
(9/18/05) Plans are underway for the 9th Cooking on the Square.
Mark your calendars for 11:30am on Friday, October 28th, and be
ready to enjoy one of this community’s most loved events. If you
are interested in cooking this year, providing bowls, or
volunteering please contact Pam Ealey in our office. We would
also appreciate your help in promoting this event by printing
off the attached flyer

Application Fair - Oct. 4, 2005
